It’s a little naive to assume that Secretary of State has been corrupted by wealth and power. He may have been that way from the outset. True he is fantastically wealthy with some conservative estimates of his personnel fortune being at around $320 million. However, in other respects Kerry may be being deliberately deceptive about himself and his background. For a start he isn’t the descendent of Irish-American immigrants, as his name might suggest. To quote from Wikipedia: It was discovered in 2003 by Felix Gundacker, a genealogist[5] working with The Boston Globe, that Kerry’s paternal grandparents, who had been born Jewish, as “Fritz Kohn” and “Ida Löwe”, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, changed their names to “Frederick and Ida Kerry” in 1900 and converted from Judaism to Roman Catholicism in 1901[6][7] (Source) Moreover, beyond being descended from Jewish forbearers, a fact that Kerry has carefully concealed, he’s also related to European royalty, both Norwegian and British. Nor is Kerry quite the war hero his publicists have made him out to be. With many Vietnam veterans who served alongside him saying he was ‘unfit for command‘; while other veterans have raised questions over the wounds he sustained, which led to Kerry being awarded a Purple Heart. Given that Kerry has such a dubious history it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that he wasn’t being entirely sincere when he spoke out against the Vietnam War. Like Jane Fonda he may have been furthering his own career when he did so.
