It’s been a busy day in MK today! A business breakfast meeting at Buskers Café up in Wolverton Park, a great opportunity for me to hear how confidence is growing in local business, something which is key to economic recovery. This was then followed up a really informative meeting with MK GP practices over the future strategy for GP provision. We have always been good a planning in MK and this is even more key when it comes to healthcare – and to keep pressure of the A&E. I also had a good meeting with Thames Valley Police – we mainly discussed how the number of police in MK have increased over the last 4 years with no plans on reducing the size of the force. I then popped up to Olney Infant Academy for some lunch – it was great to see so many kids tucking into their food, over 96% now enjoy school dinners. Did everyone see the announcement about the EU forcing the UK to pay £1.7 billion in taxes? I am delighted that the PM has taken such a firm line on this and refused to pay. Why should we be punished for our economic success? We have taken the hard decision and had to deal with the consequences of austerity, but this has meant our economic recovery has been superior to those of our EU friends and yet, we must pay more? #noway
