It’s been a busy week in the Fox Valley! Thank you again to everyone who came to Thursday’s meeting. It was great to talk with all of you. For anyone unable to come I will also email. Some topics discussed were areas of interest such as transition into school age, there were two families that were able to share many ideas based on their personal successes and challenges with their children’s diagnosis, restrictions…(I hate that word…Modifications, maybe). I shared a little bit about the seminar at convention regarding Exercise as a prescription vs. a restriction. The Lorge Family (expecting their 3rd!) won a basket of Timber Rattler tickets at this weeks meeting! We discussed the need for anyone with an interest or passion to look into/read about some of the Coordinator positions that our group would benefit from filling. Melissa C was interested in signing on to our groups checking account…as we will have one…and enough $$ to pay our group dues this year! Thank you to the Dr.’s Gehringer (Pediatricians at Children’s Hospital Fox Valley) for the donation to MLH FV. Also, this weekends farm market brought us $97!!! Thank you to my little boy Rafe and good friend Karlene for manning the tent and enjoying the heat. We met a few other local “Heart Moms” either completely unfamiliar or vaguely familiar with MLH…both with older children, and an interest in at the very least sharing with our group. The questions and concern from community members was heartwarming, as was the case with our family, it is not well known that CHD is so prevalent. We will meet again Tuesday August 6th 6pm, 4th Floor at Children’s in Neenah if that works?! (The plan will be the first Thursday of each month-but our first family vacation as a family of 6 happens the first week in Aug, and I work the 2nd Thursday) I had advertised our market dates and meetings with a local news station who called with a brief interview…with the potential of a real interview for a slow news day Our next event will be a Brat Fry at Festival Foods in Oshkosh Friday September 20th. We will be in need of LOTS of help 9am-7pm (this has set up and take down time built in)—GRILLERS needed especially! Please let me know if you can help even an hour or two! Thank you!
