It’s been a little over a year since we lost Matthew in Haiti. - TopicsExpress

It’s been a little over a year since we lost Matthew in Haiti. He was so excited that day to reach the village where we would spend the week providing medical care to people that needed it so badly. It was such a tragedy to lose Matthew and his 3 new friends in the car with him. They were all such loving and giving people. The world needs more people like them. We miss Matt so much and think of him so many times each day. We have been so grateful to all the people who have blessed us with your stories about Matt, your thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness in this past year. They have given us strength and cheered us up when we needed it most. So many times this past year I found myself thinking of all the comments I’ve heard about what a good person Matthew was. Many people have said that Matt did so much good in his too short life and it made them think about how much they had done for others. I know the thoughts were sincere but with the demands on our time every day it is hard to get started on those changes. An endowed fund has been established in Matthew’s name to help underprivileged young people. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see an army of volunteers giving their time and talents to others because they were inspired by what Matt did in his life? We are establishing a Facebook page to gather the stories of anyone who did something last year or are volunteering this year. We hope that you will look at the page to see what others are doing and hope your story might inspire more good works. If you have lost a loved one of your own and would like to dedicate the hours to that person please include that story also. And please send this on to your friends. Even if they never knew Matt maybe his story can inspire people to volunteer in the name of their own loved ones. I try to envision the movie “Pay it Forward” and all the good deeds that story inspired. Maybe our individual acts can encourage more people to volunteer and make our world a little better for everyone. I know Matthew would be ecstatic to see that his love for people is continuing through us all. Thank you for all your kindnesses this year. God bless us all! Dave Kutsche
