It’s been raining since yesterday at least in substantial part of south-western NG. The weather is unusually cold, conspicuously due to the long-lasting and ongoing down pour. The weather seems unfriendly but the Muslims have been told not to mention evil about weather. Rain is just a blessing from the Almighty. Allah says he created everything with measures (suratul-qamor), among the measures relative to rain is about its falling speed. The minimum altitude of rain clouds is 1,200 meters. When dropped from this altitude, an object having the same weight and size as a rain drop, would continuously accelerating and fall onto the ground with a speed of 558 km/h. Definitely such speed is enough for any object cause great damage when hits the ground. If rain happened to fall in the same way, all harvested lands would be destroyed, residential areas, houses, and cars would be damaged. People and other inhabitants would find these greatly unpalatable. What is more, these calculations are made just for clouds at a height of 1,200 meters; there are also rain clouds at altitudes of 10,000 meters. A rain drop falling from such a height could normally reach a very destructive speed. But Allah never let His creatures alone. Name any height from which rain fall, the average speed of rain drops is only 8-10 km/h when they reach the ground. The reason for this is simple but divine. Rain falls in such a way that, the friction effect of the atmosphere increases and thus prevents acceleration when the rain drops reach a certain speed "limit".
