It’s finally time to give “Pops his Props”. This Father’s - TopicsExpress

It’s finally time to give “Pops his Props”. This Father’s Day, Sunday the 15th, The NoWhere Men, those “misaligned maniacal masters of madcap musical mayhem” are going to “Turn Back the Hands of Time” as they take it “Down To the Night Club”. I do believe there’s a song or two in there somewhere. That’s right, we’re doing “Daddy’s Day” the old fashion way. We’re going back to those grandiose days, when live music was king and reigned supreme. The days before the iPod, and yes, even Disco! We’re going back to the days of the “supper club”, when establishments had tables with cloths and real seating, not just lopsided bar stools and plastic lawn chairs. Remember Classics, the Bastille, Gentlemen’s, Ventuno 21, Fran O’Brien’s Anthony House or Caesar’s II? It all takes place at the gorgeous Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club (in the old Bethesda Theatre), starting at 7:30 pm. Don’t let the name fool you. There will be a dance floor and you can get down and funky like the old days. This ain’t like Blues Alley, at least not that night. The band will be serving up their own heavy helpings of Old School R&B and Classic Rock & Soul music from the 60s, 70s and beyond, along with their senseless banter of course. It’s all for Papa-san’s big night, as we try to relive those bygone days of our youth. Back to the time when we all graduated from teen clubs, CYO dances and pool parties, to the “club scene”. Come and party like the club days of yesteryear, only earlier! We start early so you can still make it home and get your beauty sleep. Who are we kidding? It’s for us not so beautiful people, so we can make it to work on time Monday morning. HA! Tickets are just $10 and available online or at the door. Parking is free on Sundays at the Cheltenham Parking Garage behind the club. A delicious full menu is available, hence the word “Supper” in the name. So bring Popi or whoever and join us, as we christen this new venue and make it “Big Daddy’s Place” for the evening. Doors open at 5:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you there! Bethesda Jazz & Blues Supper Club 7719 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814 (240) 330-4500 bethesdabluesjazz/ PS: Don’t forget we’re at the Rod N Reel this Sunday, the 8th from 4-8 pm. It’s always a good time at Chesapeake Beach. Sunscreen and flip flops optional, but not required. Cares and worries are denied access. Remember age is only a number! Hope to see you there!
