It’s out in the open. Even Israel’s prime minister is unequivocally says that Tel Aviv is supporting insurgents fighting the Syrian government. An Israeli website, Debka File, known to be close to Israeli intelligence sources, has reported that a “new Syrian rebel command center has been set up” near Golan Heights town of Quneitra with the help of the US, Jordan and Israel. Israel has established a field hospital on the Golan Heights to treat the militants who belong to the terrorist groups in Syria. According to the website “On Feb. 18, Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, quite openly visited injured Syrians at an IDF military field hospital on the Golan. They chatted with wounded rebel soldiers.” Meanwhile, Bouthaina Shaaban, a political and media adviser to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, has said that Israel is helping the rebels fighting to oust President Assad. She further claimed that Israeli officers are operating in Syria and monitoring the fighting in the war-torn country. Why is Israel supporting the insurgents? Why does it want President Assad ousted? Why Israel is not hiding anymore its support for the insurgents? Does it have anything to do with the crushing blows that the insurgents have received from the Syrian government and Hezbollah fighters?
