It’s taken me a while, but I am climbing on my soapbox. That is a warning to those who may or may not want to continue reading. Before I start, please know I have prayed about this. It will be my first and last commentary on the subject, but trust I will continue to pray and try to find people willing to join me in being answer to this problem. As with everything in my life, I come at this from a Christian perspective, if you find that offensive you may as well save your time and stop reading now. With all the things going on of late with the racial divide in this country, I want to say very simply, ”STOP!” Stop the hating, stop the violence, stop pouring salt in open wounds and gas on the fires of anger and despair that are rampant in this country. JUST STOP! I have seen incendiary comments from non-Christians and Christians alike. Whether you know it or not, with every single devisive word that is spoken or written or reported on the news, the plan of the enemy is being played out right before our eyes. There is no Christ in ANYTHING that is going on right now, I don’t care how true or how justified you feel in your opinion. We need to STOP. Stop posting how whites hate blacks and how blacks hate whites. JUST STOP. We were all created in the image of God and folks, there is no color specifity to that. Unless you are prepared to defend your argument by saying you have personally met God and can testify to His exact image, then all we know is that He created us all and loves each of us exactly the same. So if you want to talk, I mean really talk – if you want to get on your Facebook page and post things – post how you plan to be a part of fixing this problem. We all know people in our community – get with them and see what you can do to collectively, positively and peacefully address racial issues. You know people in your church – act as Christ on Earth and live for the cause of love, peace and kindness among ALL OF US. And mostly, you know yourself – before you post something on your Facebook page, think, “will this in any way incite hate, anger or cause a further divide among us?” If you’re honest with yourself, and the answer is yes, THEN STOP! All of this picking at the open wound only keeps it festering. Let’s be the church here on Earth. Let us promote kindness and love, harmony and community. Let’s quit playing into the hands of the enemy and start pleasing the God of hope. Until we make this a top priority and take real responsibility for our actions and what we are doing to continue the disintegration of our country, things are going to continue in this downward spiral. Be a solution, not part of the problem! Think before your speak, pray before you act. With love to everyone who reads this, join me in trying to find a way to bridge this divide. God’s peace, hope and love. 1 Corinthians 13 13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
