It’s time for the President to OK the #KeystoneXL pipeline. A recent report published by the #StateDepartment stated unequivocally that the pipeline would not increase greenhouse gas emissions. Foes of the pipeline need to realize that pipeline or no pipeline the oil in question will still be transported, likely by train. President Obama has delayed this necessary and beneficial project for so long that his protestations are becoming farcical. American workers need the jobs and the economy stands to benefit by $3.4 billion. #NPR notes that a recent #PewPoll found that 65 percent of Americans support construction of the pipeline – including 51% of Democrats. President Obama is making this straightforward project needlessly divisive. #PresidentObama said during his SOTU that he was willing to “slash the bureaucracy and streamline the permitting process for key projects, so we can get more construction workers on the job as fast as possible.” For President Obama to make that statement and then continue delaying a project that will lead to 40,000 jobs, many thousands of which would be union jobs at union wages, makes no sense from a #governance standpoint. Approve this project, Mr. President. Make the dirt fly and help create jobs and spur economic growth.
