It’s very important for the parents to have a task, even a simple task, when they walk away from a behavior meeting. They need to feel like they have a concrete role to play in the process and should be focused on reinforcing positive behavior. For example, I had a young child who had difficulty working in groups. My task to the parents was to ask them to involve the child in family activities, especially were they were providing a service to others. So the family could work on cleaning house together or carrying groceries in together. Have you used a similar approach?
