Ive been a grassroots activist since the before the start of Occupy. Since then, Ive literally talked to thousands of people, participated in the programs of two organizations that have been featured on TED and the White House website, travelled thousands of miles and had amazing adventures. I am thankful for these experiences, but I also have to acknowledge that it has been especially painful at times, particularly recently. I have been carrying the torch for the importance of relocalization and resilience in our community. I have seen how deep the social scars cut into the heart of our community, and how deeply infiltrated our culture is by the ills brought on by corporatocracy; from the meth-fueled thieves to the privileged youth buying sweatshop-produced clothes in the mall. I do not judge them; they are simply doing what they have been taught by their collective experiences at this point, just as I am where I am based on my experiences. I have seen the problems we face, and I have given everything I possess physically, emotionally, financially, and intellectually to my activism. It has left me penniless, physically and emotionally compromised, and has not gotten me the results that I have been trying to achieve. It is for this reason that I am no longer going to be active in grassroots activism. I will instead focus on working with established entities and working on developing my own agricultural business... I feel that if we are to stand a chance of defeating those that wish to control all of our worlds wealth we need wealth too. I am ready to start fighting smarter, not harder.
