Ive been an avid Toyota fan for over 25 yrs. Last Monday I booked my Toyota Corolla Hatchback for a routine service at my local Albany service centre. The vehicle had no issues at that time. The customer service and front line staff were excellent. I picked up the car the same evening, but as I was driving home I realised that the car was pulling to the left, a problem that was not present prior to the service. I called the service centre and left a message the same evening. On the following day, I received a call back and I explained the condition of the vehicle. I was asked to bring the vehicle in and have a chat with the mechanics. I went in on Tuesday and a senior mechanic was assigned and we went for a test drive with the mechanic taking the wheel of the vehicle. I asked him if the vehicle was test driven after the service and he said yes, and I asked him if they did not figure out the vehicle was pulling to the left. He told me that a road test was very short and done along Gills road so the test driver wouldnt have made out if anything was wrong. Whats the point of a road test then ...?......??? He acknowledged that the vehicle WAS pulling to the right and he had to keep correcting, the steering. He fobbed me off saying I need to speak to the Service manager. I met the service manager, who looked at the paper work on what was done on the vehicle and suggested nothing was done that would make the car pull to the right. So perfectly ok vehicle goes in for service and comes back to me like something was wrong. When I brought it to the service managers attention, he advised me that he can book my vehicle in for a check, up on alignment and suspension, but, I WILL HAVE TO BEAR THE COSTS. Is that fair.......??????????? I walked out promising never to set foot again at the Toyota Service Centre in Albany. On Friday, hardly 5 days after the service was done, I am starting to hear squeaking sounds coming from my wheels........ I hope Toyota looks at their mission statement and responsibility to customers once again. Its appalling that hardworking New Zealanders have to be subject to this calibre of service BELIEVE.........sure do now...on where NOT to take my vehicle again.
