Ive been asked by several folks whether Tropical Storm Bertha may take a similar path to Sandy and recurve back into the US. Please realize that Sandy was a once in a generation type of storm. The planets aligned and Superstorm Sandy was the product. Sandy defied meteorology as it took an unprecedented sharp turn back into the US mainland. Tropical Storm Bertha is still expected to curve back into the Atlantic upon exiting the Bahamas with no threat to the US mainland. By the middle of next week, it could very well strengthen into a hurricane off the coast of southern Newfoundland.
