Ive been catching up on my Kubrick lately. I watched AI, his unfinished project which was directed by Steven Spielberg, as well as his last film Eyes Wide Shut. AI was an interesting melange of Kubrickian and Spielbergian influence, and I enjoyed it a lot; very different from Kubricks usual style, though, far more emotionally driven and less calculating and intellectual. Eyes Wide Shut played like an extended homage to David Lynch and Roman Polanski; it was hard not to notice the influence of Blue Velvet and Rosemarys Baby throughout the film. Creepy, cold, classically Kubrick.
