Ive been debating with myself about whether I should expose some of the hardships that come with our little farmstay...I prefer to present the best reasons to continue to chase this dream. Heres a not-so-delicious taste of life on the farm... Due to the thaw one of our alpacas became thin and was diagnosed with a parasite. We always provide fresh drinking water but sometimes they will just drink from a convenient puddle. Andy and I just came in from an exhausting session of rounding up the herd to give them each a dose of Panacur dewormer by mouth. The last man standing was the very unfriendly, Meric, who had loaded up with spit to aim at us as we held him for treatment...this actually negates the treatment as I dont think the paste gets down his gullet. Anyway, my best self came out when after the deed was done and Andy & I were skunked with that putrid spit and Meric was coughing it up, I yelled at him Fine! You can just go ahead and DIE from a parasite you miserable (creature)...The unending drama of farm life...truth.
