Ive been debating with myself all day on whether to weigh in on this Eric Garner situation. Ill start off by saying this. Black men, if these last few weeks arent a wake up for self assessment, self worth and a hard ass look in the mirror at yourself then I dont know what to tell you. This injustice and this blatant show of disrespect for us can no longer go tolerated. It starts with each of us as Men first as Fathers Second while being citizens of this city, state, country and world. With that said what Im about to say may ruffle feathers but usually the truth hurts. How can we all honestly be mad. First thing first people are mad about the judges and the decisions they make and or should make. Judges are only voted in and guess what most of yall dont vote. Nationwide roughly 25% of Black Americans voted; around 21% in NY and 22% here in Philly. You not affecting change with those paltry ass numbers. 2, yall dont go to jury duty and then when you go you do everything in your power to get dismissed or you carry yourselves in a manner that you wont get selected then you whine and complain about the complexity of the jurors. We MUST DO BETTER. Personally and collectively or we gonna be in chains if not figuratively then most definitely literally. SPIKE LEE said it best #WAKEUP
