Ive been getting a lot of new followers of late, and lots of messages asking the same (occasionally clueless and vague) questions. Heres a clarification of several points to help reduce the amount of messages i get. A FAQ of sorts. PLEASE read before messaging me a question: My work is 3D rendered, not drawn with a pen / pencil. I use a similar method to what Pixar use for their films. As a result, it takes much longer to make a character / illustration, and can be expensive. Simply doing a drawing of you is not simple at all. I have to model the character in 3D so it can be seen from all angles, texture it, give it a face expression, add a skeleton, pose it, model the scene it will be placed in, light it, tweak the shading, wait up to several hours for rendering and then composite it. My personal works are labours of love fuelled solely by personal inspirations only I have - the result of my passion and enthusiasm, not financial gain. I do not do requests, so please dont ask. Someone requesting that I do a personal piece based on them is like working for someone, and no artist wants to work for free, especially given the time I pour into my personal pieces. Because I spend so long on my personal pieces, everything is there for a reason, and nothing will be changed. My personal pieces are very precious to me, and I will not alter any of them at someones request because they want it to look like their wife or whatever. I can and would happily do paid 3D illustration commissions, but they are expensive. The simpler the subject and style, the quicker and cheaper they will be. Portraits are cheaper than full body pics, simple hair and clothes are quicker than curly hair and layered, creased clothes - you get the drift. I go on a daily rate, so for an average brief, youre looking at £1000 plus. The vast majority of my paid work comes from companies needing models for animation, rather than individuals needing an illustration. I much prefer doing 3D for illustration, but its not very cost-effective for a single picture if im honest. I sell signed A4 prints in my Etsy store, and InPrnt sell unsigned giclee prints in larger sizes. Both stores can be accessed from the top panel of my facebook page. I use 3DS Max, with VRay and Zbrush. I dont have much interest in teaching or making tutorials - i prefer to create than teach. I have some walkthroughs of my Olivia and Cara images available from 3DTotal. In E-book form, and in the printed book 3DS Max projects.
