Ive been hugely fortunate for so many things during my career, but my week with the Castle Lager Boucher Legacy has been one of the most amazing, humbling and emotional experiences of my life. Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher, Graeme Smith and I saw first-hand the devastating effect rhino poaching is having on this planet. We helped dart for the Rhino DNA Index System project; a technology which has already been used to put poachers behind bars. Over the last five years theres been a 5000% increase in rhino poaching. There are now only six northern white rhinos in existence (all of them in captivity), and just 17,000 southern white rhinos. These could very well be gone in the next TEN YEARS! So long as the demand for illegal animal products continues, the supply will exist. I want my son to grow up in a world where he can see a rhino out in the wild. I want his children to have that same privilege too. Losing these amazing animals would be devastating for the ecosystem in Africa, and in turn, the world.
