Ive been in business for myself for over 20 years, been there, done that, got the t-shirt and have helped over 6,000 women set up and/or grow small businesses from home to help them improve their work life balance doing something they love. Ive had the privilege of doing work that has enhanced many many womens self esteem, improved their family life and their finances. And, let me tell you it has been great fun and rewarding. But, still last year, after 21 years, something was burning away inside me telling me I could do something more. Something small that could potentially become something big for others. Something that could make a meaningful difference to others in unfortunate dispositions. Then, just as I reached a so-called career pinnacle and published and launched my first book in September 2013 and I shared my story, a few events in my personal life suddenly shifted and changed the way I looked at EVERYTHING. True meaningful success in life to me needed to be about something far deeper than all the usual stuff. I knew it had something to do with connection. And family. And potential. And caring. And children. A year ago, together, Alan and I made the courageous decision that we would sell our home and make some changes to our life in order to change the lives of disempowered children. It became my mission, with Alans support, to move to a space where we could foster sibling groups and enable them to stay connected to the positives in their identity, improve their prospects and fulfill their potential in life. In a meaningful 1:1 relationship way. We embraced our new challenge with both hands and began to make the changes. When you have a few minutes, please watch this short story. Being a foster carer has not only lit me up again beyond belief but lit up everyone around me... I am eternally grateful for the support and encouragement of my friends and family.
