Ive been listening to a lot of Steely Dan, the perfect - TopicsExpress

Ive been listening to a lot of Steely Dan, the perfect accompaniment to Steely Dan: Reelin in the Years, the fine book by Brian Sweet available on Amazon Kindle. (Wonder how I knew that.) One of my favorite Dan tunes is My Old School, a sarcastic description of bad times at their old stomping grounds. God knows Ive felt like that occasion, particularly after I first left Zion. I had my reasons, but as I grew older, I realized that while some people had treated me pretty shabbily, others had forgiven my own personal offenses, and even befriended me when I didnt deserve it based on my own shabby behavior. It all evened out in the end, and kindness given to me led me to give the same and more to others. My son and his family now live ten miles from the town I grew up in. Funny how things work out. Steely Dan-My Old School. Enjoy! OK, Trivia Postscript: The great guitar work on My Old School is courtesy of Jeff Skunk Baxter (lower right in the picture), usually remembered for his time in the Doobie Brothers. Jeff played it on a guitar he had just finished building. Talented guy.
