Ive been listening to some X-Wing podcasts lately and one of them mentioned that the 2012 World Champion Doug Kinney is starting a culture of Fly Casual. What this basically means is that at the end of the day, its still just a game so dont take it too seriously, just go and have fun. When things are looking grim in a tourney, fly casual. Remember that you learn the most when you lose. Ive heard that he leads by example by being down to earth and humble, going around tourneys and reminding people that are getting frustrated to relax and fly casual. He even donated his prizes to some charitable tourneys! I would very much love this culture of Fly Casual to take root in our local community while its still small so that in the future, hopefully we can avert the politicking that comes with lots of people having different groups just like in other game systems. P.S. Anyone knows where we can have t-shirt made for a reasonable price? I would like to start wearing a shirt with the Fly Casual motto. Hopefully, this movement can gain momentum. :)
