Ive been noticing your impassioned Facebook posts about Elaine and our controversial decision not to send her home. And, let me start by saying, you are 100% correct, Elaines behavior was definitely a problem, and thats exactly why her team members and my fellow judges and I let her know that she had to shape up. We all face difficult and dominant people in our lives. Did Elaine push back on Christinas choices? Yes she did. Could Christina have said more or simply overruled her? Yes she could have. I recall one of my first meetings with a retailer, when I was looking for a home for my brand. After I had finished sharing my ideas the president of that company shook his head and said, Im just going to give it to you straight, there really isnt anything interesting about what youre showing me or what youre doing and frankly trying to create a brand for you would be like pushing a GIANT rock up a hill. Im doing you a favor by telling you to just focus on your design firm. What if I had listened to him? I wouldnt be where I am. No, instead I soldiered on and continued, with my team behind me, to stand up for my dream. Elaine is that executive, aggressive and passive aggressive all at the same time. But, our other #DreamBuilders have a choice, to choose their belief in themselves over her domineering leadership style and go forth, all the while, telling Elaine to put a sock in it! And they do! And, guess what? She does! By the time we make it through Big Bear (TONIGHT after The Voice at 10/9c) she starts to have a crisis of self. Shes existed in a world where Elaine is always the boss. Being on #DreamBuilders and being on a team forced her to reconsider the impact of her behavior and her words. I guess well all have to hang back and see if she does it fast enough to keep her in the competition. I hope so because her living room last night was a home run, even though her behavior wasnt. Now well all see if she can become memorable in this show for her work and not her words.
