Ive been on jury duty for the past two months. On Tuesday my number came up for the 3rd time to appear and sit through the jury selection process. The first two times I was not picked and I was a little bummed that didnt get to be a part of an actual jury. This time I was picked as the #2 juror and was excited that I was going to be able to partake in the trial process. As I write this I am embarrassed to admit that I was excited about what I was about to go through. Im not going to go into any detail except that it was a criminal case and a very emotional ride. Its is hard to believe something in your heart, but at the same time have to follow the letter of the law and cast your vote on the evidence and the beyond a reason of a doubt guide lines. Either way the verdict comes out peoples lives are changed, and even though I did what was right I feel real shitty right now. If after two years I get called again I will do it, as it is my obligation as a US citizen and serve if need be. However I will be much more humbled going in. For all of you that have served on a jury, thank you for your service. I think that everyone should at least one time in you life experience this. It is something that you will never forget. Thank you all for letting me vent.
