Ive been presented with the You charge HOW MUCH? reaction by so many people over the years that Ive been in business, whether I was priced at $100 or $1000 or $1300 for my work. I dont get angry at these reactions - Ive been on both sides of the fence, after all, and I certainly have had someone quote me a price for something and told them I cant afford that right now, but thank you! Thats life. But never ever ever will I tell someone Omg, you charge WHAT for what you do? Whether its a plumber or a photographer or a vacuum salesman or a carpenter, I will never straight up insult and devalue what someone has determined their time or talent to be worth to them. I will never disrespect what someone has figured that they need to earn for their work, whether it be so that they can just barely pay their bills or so that they can save for a tropical vacation. None of my business. If I need to find someone that charges less so that I can pay what I can afford, then I will politely decline and keep looking. This is important guys. Something to think about.
