Ive been revisiting this story lately since the one year anniversary of Days suicide last month. When I first learned why she attempted suicide when we lived together, due to the return of repressed memories of childhood abuse by her father -- I couldnt write about anything else for a year or more. There are dozens of poems and stories about it from that period. I kept them all away from publication except this one, which won a short fiction contest. The story is about the first time I saw her in 16 years after the suicide attempt, and she told me why she did it. It is fiction, but, just barely.
