Ive been super busy teaching maracatu, playing music for dancers, and organizing the rest of the MaracaTour. Currently staying just off 24th St in the Mission, getting excited about our maracatu procession for Dia de los Muertos, and playing for another set of dance classes and a presentation Sunday at 7pm at Dance Mission Theater with Rosangela. The project is exploring the serpent in the dance of both Brazil and Haiti, and the oud is perfect for it (especially with the full moon last night). This one night show is the culmination of a performance workshop with Rosagela Silvestre and guest artists Portsha Jefferson and Daniel Brevil of Rara Tou Limen. Experience the qualities of the Serpent via the integration of two cultures that hold this symbol sacred. Join us in the celebration of Oxumare (Brazil) and Danbala and Ayida Wedo (Haiti) within the Silvestre Dance Technique. Other artists include TikaMorganDance and musicians Mark Machina and Derek Wright and workshop students.
