Ive been surprised at the latest decor craze...painted pieces and shabby chic. I thought this had fizzled out. The thing that bothers me the most is taking beautiful, real wood, antique furniture and painting it with a technique similar to the craze of the 1960s, called antiquing. If you have a cherry, walnut, oak, maple, or mahogany piece, why would you paint it and then rough it up so it looks old? When I started in the antique business back in the 1980s, I stripped many pieces of painted furniture to bring it back to its natural state. Ugh! Now, they are being painted again!!!
