Ive been thinking bout this bag quite a bit over the last few days... The bag had been slowly tearing over the last month and my friends and I had been in competition to see who would deliver the low-kick that would ultimately end things. I was pleased as punch when I connected with the death blow. But when I went to retrieve a broom and dust pan, the lady at the front desk killed my buzz when she suggested that I see a therapist for anger management. This is anger management. I said. She began to wax on about the difference between talking about ones feelings and physically expressing ones anger. Her final analysis: violence only begets more violence. She, for one, would be suggesting that the gym not get a new punching bag at all. I wanted to go into a rant about pacifism and violence and peace and war-I wanted to defend myself against accusations of being full of hate and anger. But instead I reminded her that there were already three more punching bags hanging in a different area of the gym. Really? Where? She said. Its a beautiful bubble you live in, maam.
