Ive been waiting for this, but wanted someone with more authority and wisdom to write about it. As Ive suspected, there is something bigger behind these common core concepts that we see reduced to a single problem that looks foreign to us -- we have learned old ways and only so far and thus understand only so much. This is about learning the mathematics behind the numbers. Its about the way that the concepts work, rather than just addition is a plus sign. And, also, this shows only one way of making sure that students understand the secret life of numbers, and hoping that they dont get caught in the Math is hard trap. The US is falling behind the rest of the world in maths and science and we deserve to have better, smarter minds lead the way than those that might see a single maths problem and ridicule it and generalize from that single instance. Thank you, Lucas Villanueva, for increasing my knowledge.
