Ive been working on our warm up flow for class. I believe to truly enhance your mobility you must practice the same way we innately learned to move when we were babies, and prioritize your movements the same way. I look at these as innate gifts that we were all given at birth, and just like any gift they must be cared for on a regular basis. The hierarchy of motor learning goes in this order. First we breath, then we crunch up and wave our arms and legs around. We grab our feet in a classic happy baby pose, we roll to our stomachs, press up and arch up, we kick our legs and eventually come to a crawl or a scoot across the floor. After that we work our way into a squat, then a stand, a walk, a jog, and finally a run. I believe that to truly prep the body for any athletic endeavor, the body needs to be prepared in the same way we innately learned to become bipedal.
