Ive been working on these 3 silver cuffs for the last two days to submit to the Santa Rosa Mineral & Gem Society show case this coming weekend. I have been a member since May and have learned a couple of things at the workshop. I cut and polished the variscite and the lapis stones under the guidance of some of the experienced people there. The cuffs were inspired by Native American jewelry because admire it and Ive been studying it for a few years now but Im not a Native American. My parents were Hungarian and I was born in Canada and am now an American. However the variscite and the lapis really called for this kind of treatment in my opinion. I only used a couple of traditional Native American border stamps and the rest are contemporary chasing tool patterns. I think this is a sort of fusion of styles, Native American inspired and expressed by me and my style. Yeah, I stayed up all night and slept from 8-1! I still have to build a setting for the piece of lapis and I think I have a good idea.
