Ive decided that Im not going to post my annual German Bar rant - TopicsExpress

Ive decided that Im not going to post my annual German Bar rant this year. Focusing on the negative impact that it has on local rate paying traders, during what should be a busy month, is going over old ground. Questioning why they pitch up in the middle of town for 6 weeks, for what is essentially a 2-3 week celebration, would be childish. Mentioning the hugely inflated drinks and food prices would be too obvious, and some may put it down, wrongly, to my jealousy of their sheer chutzpah. Asking why the council believe a German market is relevant to the people that live here, is at best a maverick question, and at worst harbours racist connotations. So I wont dare ask it again. I also wont use this opportunity to promote another Christmas Bar, one that has popped up at The Print Room for the month of December this year, and the fact that its run by local event operators, in a locally owned venue, for local people, with fair prices, warm surroundings and genuine festive cheer. I just think that would be a crass thing for me to do. It would, at this point, take blatant audacity to promote our own Christmas party at The Print Room, which takes place on Sunday 21st December. I shall keep my capitalist commercial interests to myself during this sensitive religious festival. I could go on, but theres no point really. People may read it, but nothing will change. Until next year - Merry Christmas. (frohe Weihnachten).
