Ive decided to run a 50 Miler in May. I have never ran over ten - TopicsExpress

Ive decided to run a 50 Miler in May. I have never ran over ten miles. All the training schedules are saying I wont even need to start training til Jan. Also, how is someone expected to be able to run 50 MILES at one time when their training only calls for 22 miles at one time through 14 weeks? How am I going to know if I can run 50 if Ive only ever ran 20? (which I have not at this point) This sounds totally crazy to me to DOUBLE the amount you have ever ran and then run 6 more to boot on the DAY of the race, should the training go up to like 30 or 40 miles in one run? PLEASE explain.
