Ive dined alone plenty on trips, but this was the most awkward seating at a restaurant ever. Popular little gastropub restaurant called Black & Birch on a Friday night in Kittery, Maine. I waited 30 minutes for a table.... To be sat smack dab in the middle of a big communal table with a party of 5 to one side and a party of 4 to the other. Communal table as a single? Ugh. All worth it though for duck rillette topped with duck confit on toast and then deep fried beef short ribs with a horseradish cream, and an ample selection of local beers on draft. Awkward heaven, but heaven.
