Ive encountered 3 varying reactions to Gods glory being made manifest thru people: 1) Apathy 2) Jealousy 3) Inspiration Apathy comes from pride and a darkened conscious. The Scripture says the enemy has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God (2 Cor 4:4). Others are saved in spirit, but their minds are too consumed with worldly pleasures to be hungry for what they were truly made to desire. Jealousy comes from a feeling of rejection and unworthiness. When I post what God is doing among us at Hope Lane, for example, it is to bear witness to the fact Jesus is Lord and setting people free. The intended implication of each testimony is that He wants to do the same things for and through you! If, however, my posts make you jealous and angry, its likely because you have yet to experience His presence in the same ways. You may think, how can it be that Ive loved God for so long and never or rarely see that? This may frustrate and disappoint you. You may even choose to get angry and look for fault with what Gods doing with us to validate your lack. Let me explain the chief reason you may not experience the manifest presence of God in your life or church: Its not because He doesnt love you. Its likely because you do not allow the Holy Spirit to have full control. Its the Person of the Holy Spirit who reveals Jesus on Earth. If you or your people would lay down personal agendas, mens theological ideas, patterns of tradition in worship and sermonizing, and truly submit them all to Gods control in faith, repeatedly inviting the Holy Spirit to take over and fill you with His Presence, youd begin to see in the same things were now seeing. So its not about us. We take no glory in what Hes doing. He wants to do the same things with you! But if there is a difference, its only that the people in my circle have chosen to exchange their ideas and reputation for one thing: the pursuit of Gods glory. Because of this, He increasingly moves. God forbid we ever be prideful in that, but do not mistake our boldness for boasting! On the contrary, when I post about things, its to INSPIRE those with humble hearts - those whod say, I know God loves me, and I desire to see His glory change those around me just like that! Ive had to make the same decision to humbly acknowledge and learn from others presently bearing more fruit than I! I could embrace jealousy, but instead I keep my mind submitted to the truth that God is no respect or of persons. He wants to use me too! The Hope of glory wants to demonstrate His love and power to me, so that I can give it away also. So, I choose to be inspired and teachable.
