Ive got a treat for all of you! My friend Jennifer Frank Hayes is at Best Friends Animal Society as we speak; she took the time to check on Gallagher and sent me some awesome photos (below)! She also sent me an update on Channing and G.I. Joe who rode the rails to Best Friends last September (and then Gally followed in March). I found the super friendly G.I. Joe when I was doing TNR last June; he tested positive for FIV and was accepted to Best Friends. Later that same week, someone dumped Channing on the doorstep of a local rescue group. He too tested positive for FIV and the boys rode the Love Train together from Toledo OH to Kanab UT where they found a home with Best Friends while they await adoption. Heres my friend Jennifers update: Channing and G.I. Joe live in Quincy House, which happens to be my favorite building, but its entirely restricted by ringworm quarantine. Mom and I were not allowed in, so I couldnt visit with any of them. However, I did talk to a caregiver and got updates. I was told Channing and G.I. Joe are in room 2 and are both large, friendly cats. Theyre both good with the other cats and affectionate with people. Caregivers discovered a bump on GI Joes head that they thought was a cyst. However, when the vets examined him, they discovered it was a BB, which was removed. The one cat who I did get to visit was Gallagher, who lives in room 3 of appropriately named Jills Diner. I was told he gets his own special pan when hes fed and is quickly becoming a fan favorite. He loves the outdoors and during the day, the inside/outside regular door is left open. But at night its still getting cold here and caregivers arent sure he knows how to use the cat door (or if he can fit through it), so they carry him inside every day. I got a chance to meet him and hes a sweetie. The room is small, so there arent many cats and he just likes to lie around all over the place. However, I did play with him with a crinkle ball, which he seemed to enjoy, so long as it was interactive.
