Ive got an idea! I pray Im not the first to think of this. I hope engineering of this idea is well underway. There should be a sensor of some sort in EVERY cell phone made that can sense when the person carrying the phone gets behind the wheel and automatically powers down the phone or puts it in a standing by until youre not diving mode. Make it so that you HAVE to be in park in order to use the phone. The should be absolutely no way to change this setting. In the meantime, since this doesnt exist yet, Im starting a movement. Right here. Right now. I move that we all vow to silence our phones and put them away while driving. I, Shona M. Aycock, promise to put my phone out of sight in silent mode every time I drive...No exceptions...If Im not parked, Im not available. Please follow me in this movement! Recognize how precious your passengers are. Know that you are precious to someone, too. There is no reason important enough to text while driving. Its not necessary to look down for a second to skip that song playing on Pandora or Spotify. Two and a half minutes of listening to a song you dont like wont hurt you. No matter what it is... If youre driving, IT CAN WAIT!
