Ive grown exceptionally tired of hoax sites… Im not referring to satire sites like The Onion, that site should get public funding for continuing to entertain me for nearly 2 decades. What Im referring to are sites that are clearly making up seemingly factual news on the topic of science and various intellectual reports. Im unsure of their end game, perhaps its simply for a gotcha moment on the internet at large... But these articles are being passed around and its disrupting the advancement of actual facts and knowledge, which I find offensive on some base level I never realized. I enjoy a great April Fools day as much as the next, but can we leave those on that day please? Ive pretty much grown tired of having to correct people both online and in person in topics ranging from the amount of snow fall to expect to ancient archeological discoveries. The second point was something that was quite sad to inform the very excited person, whom had proposed that exact same concept for his doctoral work in the early 60s that it was fake. Seriously, just had to inform one of my archeological professor friends that someone played at sad joke on him. These hoax sites are spreading such falsehoods that its become such a waste of energy to try to read any headlines. Social Media has the articles spreading like wildfire, and in the way our news outlets work, they pick them up as if they are true. Maybe thats the end goal, to just see this happen as a farce, but its such a tiring thing to contend with...
