Ive had many people asking me about how my Dr appt with the hip - TopicsExpress

Ive had many people asking me about how my Dr appt with the hip surgeon went, so Ill try to explain. Because of the MRI results, I went into the appt knowing that on my right side, I have a labrum hip tear and hamstring tendon tearing. Unfortunately, what I didnt know is that I have a very shallow hip socket (hip dyplasia). A congenital disorder that I never knew I had. That means that the labrum tear cannot be surgically repaired because there is not enough hip socket to attach it to. I would need a total pelvis reconstruction surgery. This would be a MAJOR surgery and only done as a last resort. So for now, they did a guided injection (by xray) in my right hip socket to help with the pain and inflammation. Due to my love of running and endurance sports, I have done a lot of damage and am prone to more serious damage. This means that if I want to be able to keep walking, I need to stop running (and any impact activities) and slow it down. Not easy for me to accept or do! So, I just need to figure out a different way of exercising. So for now, my game plan is swimming and (*hopefully*) weight training, spin and elliptical. This is going to be very very hard for me!!! Oh and they will only address one hip at a time. Still dont know what is going on on the left side. That side has been hurting for 3 years now! The body is an amazing machine and when one part is out of whack, other parts pick up the slack. Time to find the delicate balance of healing, listening to my body, and working hard. I will not quit!!!!!!
