Ive had the interesting experience of briefly studying Late Night television for a class this semester, and its been a great aid in reflecting upon the history that has brought us to this point as viewers. Now Ferguson is leaving, and I have to say I am honestly happy to see such a major shift in the networks happening at this point in my life. At 22 years old I feel like Im truly seeing history in the making, as the entire platform seems to be changing. Fallons show is nothing like Leno, and Colbert Im sure will be nothing like Dave. As naive as it sounds, it never really crossed my mind as to how much CBS and NBC were really formatted in competition. It makes me wonder what will happen to Comedy Central, Seth Meyers vs. Fergusons presumably younger replacement, and ultimately if Fallon and Colbert will battle it out for the next 20 years. I may have missed out on Johnny Carson, but its notable to realize the importance that is happening right now.
