Ive having such a great time at Belize that I almost cried tears - TopicsExpress

Ive having such a great time at Belize that I almost cried tears of joy. So, as of now, my eyes are moist with joy. At the Clinic, we saw a Toucan with a broken wing and saw its dressing get changed. It was my first time seeing a Toucan and a Jabiru. We had an Iguana that escaped - a patient who left the facilities without physicians orders. I Would like to think that the Iguana is able to survive well on its own in the wild, because she had the physical capacity to scale a wall, climb through a hole, survive a drop to the table/ground, and travel far enough as to not be seen. Although, there are also several reasons why the Iguana is unable to survive on its own (no tail defense, no right eye, etc.). We later went on to learn how to prepare and shoot a blow dart. Just about everyone got close to the target we were aiming for. Seems easy enough to use a blow dart on a large animal, but shooting a smaller animal would take more practice and less wind. The most interesting fact I learned during lecture was that Captive jaguars are more likely to attack humans than wild ones because they have become comfortable around humans. I also find lots of similarities between Belize culture and Hispanic Culture. Most surprising of which is that the Barn Owl is considered evil. And In El Paso, You hear old Mexican tales that Owls are omens or demons.
