Ive just noticed that WW lies down & proceeds to astral travel to mars on page 4 of issue #2 - She has a whole adventure & meets Steve Trevor there, who is in a coma back on Earth. Along the way she battles a man from Saturn whose name is Satan. He rides his horse backwards and shouts hail mephistopheles. They astral travel to spy on Hitler a few pages later. I know that usage of such metaphysical tropes in comics is commonplace, but was this true in 1942? Even as a simple occult enthusiast these passages remind me of how people actually go about trying to do these things, in a way that comics such as Dr. Strange never have. Its kinda humbling to ask this, but I really need to. Can anybody out there crowdsurf me $100 for WW research? (PM me) I will make you a WW drawing. Ill make 4 WW drawings for $25 each if I need to! Ive actually only ever read Vol 1 of the 5 DC Marston/Peter reprint volumes. Ive read other collections, and flipped through the rest along the way, but finding these pdfs online (luminist.org/archives/CB/) has made me realize that I need to look closely at all of them. Theyve been pretty expensive, but suddenly seem cheaper, as perhaps people are suddenly wanting to unload them? I cant swing it right now, though. Its for a good cause, A friend & I are gonna look into this stuff as best we can & report back in a few months. Itll take up a bunch of time. Its gonna be good. (Scythians!)
