Ive just posted by far my longest poem, Death Match Yosemite, on my website/blog, drollpoems. It closely matches my real experiences of walking fifteen hours through the Yosemite mountains without water or food on Friday, March 7, early Saturday, March 8. I exaggerate how cold I felt while I was actually walking. In real life I did not begin trembling until I was seated at my rescuer, Bill Baileys, dining room table. It was 38 degrees F when I was rescued in Greeley Hill, California at 3 a.m. by Bill Bailey. Bills car was the first I had seen during my long walk on a dirt road which was closed to traffic because of the giant Rim forest fire. Other than sicknesses, my Yosemite ordeal was by far my biggest physical challenge of my 66 years. You never know when something new is going to happen to you. Ill later jazz up the poem to make it more exciting (add an encounter with a bear or mountain lion, say I tripped and hit my head on a rock, etc. These things could easily have happened (there was a warning sign about mountain lions at the start of the trail) but luckily did not.
