Ive just watched 3 separate LNP election ads on the TV (not my fault, the TV was on and I was in the room) and I noticed a common thread in all of them. Several common threads actually. The main one is, of course, Dont vote Labor. Weirdly though there seemed to be something a bit homoerotic about all the ads, because they all featured surfboats. Yes surfboats. No mention in the voiceover about the joys of pulling your budgie smugglers up your arse to avoid rowers ring and jumping in a boat with all your mates and paddling though the surf in an overly dramatised but very manly fashion. No mention of what the LNP is doing for the states surf clubs. I assume that theyre meant to symbolise the strength (vomit) of the LNP and their Strong (vomit) vision for a Strong (vomit) Qld. In one of the ads the boat turned side on to the surf and was obviously going to turnover and kill everybody, at the same time as the voiceover mentioned the dangers that face us all if Labor gets back in. Either that or someone in the ad agency is in a surfclub and likes that sort of thing. According to another LNP ad the bikies are supporting Labor, apparently. Not bikies in surfboats though, disappointingly.
