Ive learned over the last few days, that what we do at the wildlife center not only impacts animals, but people as well. A couple of days ago, we had a photo shoot with our sanctuary bobcat, Wilbur, by a Nat Geo photographer. An older lady and a 9 year-old girl walked on the property asking to watch in sheer excitement. It appears those moments being close to a beautiful creature such as Wilbur made a huge impact. We got notice later that the older woman was a relative of a vendor we use all the time. The little girl was her neighbor. We found out that all they did that day was talk about their experience and how their lives had been changed. This was especially moving when I found out the girls father is in prison and her mother is a drug addict and the older lady had lost 2 children to murder and not much kept her going each day, but Wilbur did. Sometimes, we take for granted just how much of an impact we have on others and Im grateful I could help to make someones day. When I can make a difference for all that walk this earth, it makes my day and I love my job!
