Ive learned that sometimes in rescue there are large spurts of surrenders and incoming rescues. So, I thought I had learned not to panic as this too shall pass. Usually there are spurts of adoptions eventually to even it out. Right now Im having a tough time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Wednesday we got in another large group of rats. The father and sister were kind enough to rescue them from the other sister, who was just described as sick in the e-mail request. Today the sister (who appears to be an amazing young lady) confessed that her sister has a very bad drug problem and these rats were being seriously neglected. The father kept 3 boys for himself and the good sister (that probably doesnt sound right) also kept 4 for herself! The rest are here tonight. They all appear healthy besides the skinniness and scabs. Please spread the word, Best Friend Rodent Rescue needs adopters! We had an amazing group of volunteers busting their butts here last weekend. Thank you all so much! Im sure they can all agree that last weekend we had an excessive number of ratties here. Well, over the week weve added about 40 more! And yes - we have babies now! About 30 of them to chose from. Mostly standard ear but adorable none the less. Here are some pics of the newest crew. Dont worry about the cages, these are what they came in, not what they are being kept in.
