Ive made lots of mistakes in my life, but I try my best to learn from them. My most recent error in judgement has been my putting work before family and friends. I love my work; I love teaching; but the world can turn upside down in a split second, and neglecting loved ones for the love of work is a grave error indeed. When my beloved friend Travis died, I changed my attitude about relationships. I realized the commitment-phobia I had honed was a shield to protect me from loss. I suffered the pain of loss no matter how hard I tried to shy away from relationship commitments. So, I learned, and I committed to Ross, got married, and settled into family life. But, I have continued to put work above love. Life is too short, friendships and family are too precious (Im soooooo lucky to have the friends and family that I do), and I need to straighten up and fly right. I want all yall to know that even though Im more absent than present, my heart and mind is firmly and forever with you.
