Ive never really understood why Writers have failed to depict a well written Jean Grey/Phoenix. Didnt Grant Morrison show us that we could have a Powerful and interesting Jean while still avoiding the mucky mess the Phoenix tends to bring when involved in a story_line even when both were written as one? I understand that having a highly powerful cosmic entity on a team book is quite challenging to write since it would make solving problems easy but I also see it as a potential to bring about interesting conflict and trust issues amongst characters in a group dynamic. The Problem Jean Grey(and Ice_Man) face with writers isnt because they are too powerful, its because they are two dimensional which makes it hard to give them depth. Jean ends up coming off as Mary-Sue_ish sometimes which is quite bland for a book that has tons of interesting characters like Wolverine,Emma,Rogue,Storm,Scott etc. Maybe Writers should try shipping her off to the Avengers where she could let loose with her abilities. Thats one book where fans of hers wont have to be worried about her being offed because shes too overpowered to keep in a team.
