Ive noticed a trend. Vet comes home with PTSD... after learning whats going on, spouse tries everything known to man to try to deal with daily symptoms (anger outbursts, irritability, HYPER-vigilance, emergency/life or death reactions, isolation, emotional numbness, road rage, etc., etc., etc.)... spouse learns to always watch out for the next episode, also HYPER-vigilantly... spouse starts feeling like its easier to just stay in a very guarded, on edge, walking on eggshells state, since being ready is easier and safer than being caught off guard... PTSD Vet senses spouses guarded, edgy state and it makes them even more tense... both begin to isolate from each other more and/or fight more, which raises the tension even higher. Its a horrible cycle.... The PTSD roller coaster. Sound familiar?? In our experience, hopping off the coaster takes BOTH sides willing to stop blaming, work together on changing things, and usually getting GOOD third party help involved. ~~Michele Smith
