Ive now read all five of the currently released A Song of Ice and Fire novels. For those not in the know, this is what Game of Thrones (the excellent TV show) is based on. The first book is called Game of Thrones. Capsule review: They are really good. Compelling, interesting and multilayered stories that keep you guessing and reading. Im not much of a fan of the genre, but it transcends it. The zeitgeist has it right on this. All of the appendixes and maps and stuff totally helps one keep track about which character is doing what to whom and where. Its at parity with Lord of the Rings to this reader. If you were remotely interested in these books, Id go ahead and say to check them out. Excellent storytelling.
